The cultivation of the Damascus rose has spread from Persia, where the Rose is a national emblem. The famous Cleopatra set the room up to the knees with rose flowers for Mark Antony. To obtain 1 liter of essential oil, about 4000 kilos of hand - collected flowers is required. To obtain essential oil from the Rose we use steam distillation of fresh Rose petals.
